Thesis Writing Retreat, Summer 2024
Completing a thesis is easier when following a regular schedule and becoming a member of a supportive writing group. Groups keep writers accountable and foster community. With this in mind, the Writing Centre and School of Graduate Studies are pleased to host a 5-day Thesis Retreat for graduate students from August 12-16, 2024. If you are looking for distraction-free time to work and can commit to 5 days of consistent writing, then this group is for you!
What happens at the Retreat?
The retreat is designed to maximize independent writing time. Depending on the day’s schedule, this will be 5-6 hours per day.
Any student registered in a masters or doctorate program may join; however, this program will be the most useful for students who have completed their research and have already begun writing their thesis.
Students who are still in the early stages of their projects or who are seeking instruction on how to complete specific project-related tasks or improve their academic writing skills may be better served by contacting the Writing Centre directly to sign up for one-on-one tutoring.
All students are encouraged to meet with their supervisors prior to attending to establish goals for their retreat.
If you have any questions, please contact the event facilitator directly (Jacinda Sinclair, jmsinclair@mun.ca) or the Writing Centre (writing@mun.ca).
