This session will provide an introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) and Memorial’s Technology Transfer and Commercialization team at the Research Innovation Office (RIO). It will cover the basics of IP, delving into copyright, trade secrets, trademarks, and patents, which are all different methods of IP protection that are utilized at Memorial. Additionally, the session reviews IP ownership, inventorship, and the disclosure process. This overview will help attendees understand when to engage with the team, important IP considerations for students, and how we can assist in advancing ideas toward commercial opportunities.
