Memorial Connects: Entrepreneurism in N.L. Toronto Logo
  • Discover how Newfoundland and Labrador (N.L.) is creating global companies, leading their industries, blazing the trail for the next generation of entrepreneurs, and why Memorial is pivotal to their success.

Led by technology companies, in 2025 N.L. dominated the capital raised in Atlantic Canada for high-growth companies, earning nearly $300m or 78% of the region's capital, even though we represent only 21% of the population.

Hosted by Jason Trask (B.Comm.(Co-op.)'99), director of the Memorial Centre for Entrepreneurship (MCE), the discussion will include Memorial’s role in forming and supporting start ups, a firsthand account from a successful young entrepreneur and the viewpoint of someone who provides the capital necessary for entrepreneurial success.

Speakers include Bronwyn Bridges, current PhD candidate in Memorial's School of Pharmacy, CEO and co- founder of PragmaClin Research Inc., (a digital tool transforming care for Parkinson's disease) and Mark Dobbin (B.Comm.(Co-op.)'81), president of Killick Capital.

MCE has a mission to inspire and enable Memorial University students from all faculties and diverse backgrounds to pursue a future in the exciting and dynamic world of entrepreneurship. The MCE works closely with Memorial’s Genesis Centre, and its other organizations within the university that exist to support research commercialization, and entrepreneurship.

Come to this event if you want to be inspired, learn why your university often “punches above its weight” and its plan to increase its impact on the global stage!
